The constitution of the United States of America guarantees every citizen the right to worship according to their beliefs, not those of the government, nor those of our neighbors. It does not allow any human authority over God, under whom this country was undeniably and unashamedly founded.
The Equality Act is a new piece of legislation that seeks to elevate sexual orientation and gender identity above religious freedoms in the U.S. by amending the 1964 Civil Rights Act and the Fair Housing Act to prohibit discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity in employment, housing, public accommodations, public education, federal funding, credit and the jury system.
It does not explain or mandate how those orientations and/or identities are to be defined. Therefore, if passed, it would be up to the individual to define what his gender/identity is and for how long it has existed as such, how long it will be as such, and when how it comes and goes. Boy, girl, no sex; last week until next week, just for an hour or so while they compete…whatever that individual says.
Despite direct conflict with our constitution, this legislation has just passed out of the House Judiciary Committee and will likely be put to a vote of the entire House very soon.
But it is legislation which should, and hopefully would be, judged unconstitutional, should it ever be passed by both the House and Senate and signed into law by the President.
Considering current President and the makeup of our current Senate and, that doesn’t seem possible. But, down the road; after the 2020 general election, or the next? What then?
That is what “Unconstitutional” means. The laws, government mandates, court ruling that do not fit into our constitution cannot be allowed to stand. They are “Unconstitutional,” and therefore should be - must be, overruled by our highest court. These kinds of changes to our laws can only be changed by amending the constitution.
I agree with Dr. James Dobson when he called the Equality Act, “a thinly veiled attempt to finish off religious liberty in America once and for all, which ought to be plainly obvious based upon a cursory reading of the First Amendment.”
Here’s a logical argument from Judicial Watch: the bill effectively eliminates single-sex “public multi-stall bathrooms, domestic violence or rape crisis shelters, drug rehabilitation centers, jails, juvenile detention facilities, homeless shelters, locker rooms or group showers.”
We are already seeing news reports of young girls running into naked men in their locker rooms and then having to apologize to the male for offending him by getting embarrassed, afraid and, in some cases, physical to have him removed.
Across the county, men who “Identify as women”, are besting real women in sports competitions, supposedly restricted to the same gender; this despite reports that there are hundreds of high school boys who have already produced better scores than the world records held by professional women athletes.
Now, I don’t pretend to know the mind of God. His thoughts are not my thoughts - his ways not my ways. I do know what he has revealed in his holy and inerrant word. And I do know what that says about most of these issues. So, let me encourage you. Do not worry or be despondent about any of these trials but count them all blessings as we are grown in faith and trust in the Lord of all. Trust that God knows all things and that he has a plan to prosper you and me and not to harm us, and that plan is better than any plan you or I could ever develop.
The government may become more and more progressive and our society more and more liberal, but one thing I can tell you for sure: The laws passed by man; the individual actions of men; and, the rulings of the highest courts of this country are ultimately and eternally under the authority of the Creator of them all. Even if the United States Supreme Court were to rule sinful laws as “Constitutional” on earth, God's SUPREME COURT can and will rule sin them as “Unrighteous” when they come before his judgment throne.
Please join me in praying for wisdom and discernment – the protection, guidance and leading of the Holy Spirit - to do what God would have us do, and to trust our loving and gracious Heavenly Father to do what he will do. Let us put on the full armor of God and stand fast in this spiritual warfare, to his honor and glory.
